The Writer’s Guide (click to download pdf) is available for immediate use and will be in a testing phase until March 31, 2010.
The guide was designed as a reference tool in the preparation of a GMP; used in conjunction with other aids, it should help to produce plan documents that are concise, reader-friendly, and consistent with national park planning guidance. A goal of the Writer’s Guide project is to promote servicewide consistency in the structure of general management plan (GMP) documents, the types of information presented, and the level of detail. It was developed by a team led by the Denver Service Center with representatives from the Regional Planning Offices and the WASO Office of Park Planning and Special Studies
The WASO Office seeks good examples from completed GMPs that illustrate how standard topics could be treated. The examples will be posted on this site and later incorporated in the online version of the guide.
