Right of Way Permit for construction of Mississippi Crossing Natural Gas Pipeline

The National Park Service has prepared a Record of Decision (ROD) for the Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, LLC Mississippi Crossing Project. This decision follows comprehensive environmental review and public involvement, ensuring protection of Natchez Trace Parkway resources while supporting regional energy needs.

The Mississippi Crossing Project, proposed by Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, LLC, involves construction and operation of a natural gas pipeline segment crossing National Park Service (NPS) property at Parkway milepost 157.5, south of Kosciusko, MS. The crossing will utilize horizontal directional drilling to avoid surface disturbance and protect the Parkway's designed landscape, natural resources, and historic corridor. No above-ground facilities will be located within the Parkway boundary.

The ROD incorporates findings from the Environmental Impact Statement evaluating the potential effects of the project prepared by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) with the NPS as a cooperating agency, consultation with federal and state agencies, and public comments. The NPS will enforce all mitigation, monitoring, and reporting requirements as conditions of a right-of-way permit and a special use permit for construction. Construction activities within the Parkway boundary will not commence until all permit conditions are satisfied.
