Replacement of Administrative Facilities at Stehekin

The National Park Service (NPS) has completed an Environmental Assessment (EA) on a proposal to relocate the maintenance and fire facilities and one single family residence from the floodplain and channel migration zone of the Stehekin River within Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. This EA was released for public review in January 2015, and on September 1, 2015, the NPS decided to implement the preferred alternative (Alternative 2) as described in the EA (this decision is documented in the Finding of No Significant Impact which is included under "documents").

The NPS is also concurrently proposing a rule in the Federal Register to allow the NPS to accept solid waste generated within the park boundary from non-NPS activities, which is related to this EA. This proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on July 13, 2015 and can be found and commented at at www.regulations.gov (search for RIN: 1024-AE09) through October 13, 2015.

For more information about the proposed action, please explore the plan process, meeting notices, links, and documents section of this project website.
