Join National Park Service and City of Albuquerque staff for an informational site visit to Boca Negra Canyon.
 
Description:
The site visit at Boca Negra Canyon will discuss the proposed enhancements to the visitor services and facilities in the area. Starting at the outer parking lot, we will be walking through the site and looking at existing facilities and trails and discussing future opportunities for improvements. For those with mobility limitations, there will be an option to drive around the site on the loop road and talk with staff who will be stationed at each parking lot.

The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed site plans for the Boca Negra Canyon and Lava Shadows areas within Petroglyph National Monument. The proposal is a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing these areas to provide improved visitor services and experiences. The proposal addresses several longstanding challenges, such as limited parking, outdated facilities, and the need for improved trail conditions.

The endeavor was launched as part of the implementation of the Monument's management plan which provides guidance to align visitors' education and enjoyment with the protection of natural and cultural resources. Another important component of this project is to develop a strategic direction for infrastructure and facilities that are operationally and financially sustainable for the National Park Service and the City of Albuquerque Open Space to maintain into the future.
 
Description:
Please join National Park Service and City of Albuquerque Open Space staff at a public meeting to learn more about the proposed site plans for the Boca Negra Canyon and Lava Shadows areas of Petroglyph National Monument. The meeting will begin at 6 pm and include a presentation at 6:15 pm followed by an open house to discuss your thoughts and ideas with staff.
