Description:
The proposed plan would provide implementation guidance for improving and increasing visitor access and the desired visitor experience while preserving sensitive natural, cultural, and historical resources. The comprehensive site management plan would provide specific guidance on interpretive and educational activities, picnic areas, additional trails, and small campgrounds. It would also delineate where these would be located and give clear direction for future management of the Kahuku Unit with the long-term goal of opening full-time like the rest of the park, as requested by the public. The plan would also allow the park to open the Kahuku-Pōhue sub-area to limited visitor use initially with the intention to expand as appropriate while protecting critical natural and cultural resources.
Previous public input helped us identify what the community wants in conjunction with the park mission to protect natural and cultural resources while providing recreational opportunities and public access.
Meeting Directions/Instructions:
The meeting format will be open house style.
