Chamizal National Memorial will host a public comment session on September 8, 2009 from 5:30 to
7:00 pm to discuss a new preliminary park landscaping plan.



 
Description:
Led by Iylea Olson, a Graduate Research Assistant in the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning at the University of Arizona, this public session will feature concept drawings of potential park landscape changes. Topics for discussion will include ways to develop a new park plan that will allow park managers to meet the needs of park users and the need for public celebration/gathering spaces, walking trails, ramadas, etc. Also discussed will be ways for park managers to move toward more sustainable water conservation practices while maintaining active turf areas, and incorporating more water-conserving natural landscapes throughout the park.

The public comment session and presentation will be held in the park's Los Paisanos Gallery in the main administrative building. The session will begin at 5:30 pm and end by 7:00 pm. Local residents and interested park users are encouraged to attend and be a part of Chamizal National Memorial's exciting future.
