General Management Plan for Hampton National Historic Site

This site contains information and public review documents related to the preparation of the General Management Plan / Environmental Impact Statement (GMP/EIS) for Hampton National Historic Site. The General Management Plan is the foundation for decision-making in the park, ensuring that the park has a clearly defined direction for resource conservation and visitor use. The GMP/EIS presents three alternatives for the management of Hampton National Historic Site and analyzes environmental consequences of each alternative.
The Draft GMP/EIS was available for public review from October 18, 2010 through December 24, 2010. Public meetings were held on November 1, 2010, November 13, 2010, and November 16, 2010 to discuss the plan and collect comments. None of the comments received during the public review resulted in any changes to the alternatives or the impact analysis.
The Final GMP/EIS, with accompanying errata sheet, includes a detailed comment analysis with NPS responses and also includes comment letters from other federal and state agencies. Alternative 3 remains the NPS preferred alternative. The public release of the Final GMP/EIS will be followed by a 30-day no-action period. After the no-action period, a Record of Decision will be prepared to document the selected alternative and set forth any stipulations for implementation of the General Management Plan.
