Roswell Historic Gateway SR 9 Road Widening and Mitigations
Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area » Roswell Historic Gateway SR 9 Road Widening and Mitigations » Document List
An Environmental Assessment (EA) is open for public comment which analyzes impacts to park resources to off-set the effects of these two transportation projects. Mitigating actions to VCU include improvements to enhance accessibility to CRNRA, protect cultural and natural resources, and provide better connectivity within the unit and across Vickery Creek.
The EA analyzed two alternatives:
Preferred Alternative A- Improve traffic flow, access, and construct pedestrian bridge.
• Convert approximately 2.59 acres of NPS lands to transportation use along the SR 9.
• Construct a multi-use trail and pedestrian bridge over the Chattahoochee River on the east side of SR 9.
• Rehabilitate and create new natural surface trails, remove trails and a parking lot and replacing with a new parking lot at Allenbrook and a bridge over Vickery Creek.
No Action Alternative B - Current Management
Alternative B, the no action alternative, GDOT and FHWA would not be authorized by the NPS through special use permits or Federal HED to perform any transportation actions within the boundaries of CRNRA.
Additional information on the transportation projects is available on the GDOT website and from the City of Roswell (on the Links tab to the left).
