Suitland Parkway Trail Extension and Naylor Road Intersection Safety Improvements Public Scoping

The National Park Service (NPS) proposes to extend the Suitland Parkway Trail from the D.C. border to Naylor Road in Prince George's County, Maryland to address issues with pedestrian safety and connectivity in the vicinity of the Parkway and the Naylor Road Metro Station. The NPS is also considering improvements to enhance safety at the Suitland Parkway and Naylor Road intersection, which has been the site of numerous accidents and pedestrian fatalities. Suitland Parkway is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The NPS is seeking your comments on the preliminary options for the Suitland Parkway Trail, potential issues with park resources, and any other ideas that the NPS should consider during project development and the environmental impact analysis. Public comments will be accepted through April 25, 2025. Comments can be submitted via this website (preferred method). Written comments can also be mailed or hand-delivered to park headquarters at the address listed below. All hard copy comments must be postmarked by April 25, 2025, to receive consideration.

The public is also invited to attend a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. EST. Staff from the NPS will provide information about the proposed project and be available to answer questions. This meeting will be recorded and posted to the project website following the event.

Comments will not be accepted in any other way than those specified above. Please note that your entire comment, including your personal information, may be made publicly available at any time. You can request that we withhold your personal identifying information from public view, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.
